Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV.

Lambda Legal seeks a Digital Associate (DA) to join their Education and Public Affairs Department. Based in New York, this position is primarily responsible for creating and uploading content to Lambda Legal’s website and to assist in social media and advocacy campaigns. Lambda Legal is a national, nonprofit organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.

The Digital Associate will work under the supervision of the Digital Communications Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Digital Associate, under the direction of their supervisor, will manage web projects from planning to execution. They will monitor and maintain sections of the website to ensure that content is up to date and accurate and create and publish content on the website. The DA will help create and maintain advocacy campaigns on the website, such as petitions and “share your story” pages and help manage email blasts.

The Digital Associate will assist with daily social media management on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr and assist with maintenance of search advertising and text subscription programs.

There may be other additional duties as assigned.


A candidate must be able to work in an autonomous environment and be self-directed and self-motivated and have at least 2 years’ experience. They need experience with HTML, Photoshop and other tools for digital content creation and experience with CSS and Javascript is preferred.

Experience with content management systems is required as well as familiarity with Drupal and Blackbaud Luminate .

The ideal candidate will have experience with website design and maintenance in a nonprofit setting as well as proven project management skills. They need demonstrated experience with social media and digital advocacy as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate should be a problem solver and teamwork oriented. Knowledge of LGBT and HIV civil rights issues is a plus.
