Fair Trade helps free trade work for the poor.
The Web Developer works on our Tech Team to build a website that serves Fair Trade producers, traders, and consumers across the globe. Working here is awesome; your products have a lot of impact in the organization and in turn the lives of farmers and workers around the world. You are empowered to help define how the organization works and provide input on the future of Fair Trade. Also, while we’re a non-profit we’re also a social enterprise that is investing heavily in our tech systems.
You will lead the redevelopment, ongoing administration, and future iteration of our primary website to meet the needs of our stakeholders around the world. This position reports to the Director of Technology and collaborates with other members of the Tech Team, internal business staff and external contracted resources.
Your initial focus is to contribute well-founded Drupal architectural insight and quality front-end and back-end code in the creation of our new organizational website. You will work with a team of internal and external resources including UX designers, communication specialists, business owners and a project manager to deliver a highly functional site. Depending upon the eventual scope and complexity of the effort you may lead and work with contracted web developer resources as well.
Once launched, you will support and iterate the site by working with internal business and technology teams to identify, plan and implement enhancements and improvements as desired. You will employ rigorous analytics and create feedback loops that enable data-driven decisions. You will also keep your finger on the pulse of the Drupal and broader technical communities and plan and implement changes based on the evolving technical landscape.
The ideal candidate embraces open-source, is excited about simple and elegant technical solutions and has creative ideas of how to work with a team to solve problems. They create solid code that is well documented, testable, maintainable and modern.
