BlocPower's technology and finance platform develops clean energy projects in American inner cities.
BlocPower connects impact investors to energy efficiency projects in churches, synagogues, non-profits, and small businesses in underserved communities. We identify potential green retrofit projects in underserved neighborhoods, then perform an energy audit with a combination of sensors and onsite audits by our engineers. We analyze their financial and energy bills to come up with a loan to finance the retrofit and then manage the engineering of the retrofit which is done, in part, by underemployed workers in underserved communities. As a member of our technology department you’ll be writing the software that makes BlocPower work. This includes writing the software to help our engineers perform energy audits using our proprietary models; software that will help us analyze the big data that comes into our platform via sensors installed across our projects; and software that helps our team take projects through our pipeline. You’ll be helping to develop software for our entire business, from business development to green retrofit.
BlocPower is looking for a data engineer who is excited to help revolutionize the green energy industry. We’re looking for a team player who is ready to solve some unique problems as we build out our energy audit engineering platform and operations. The position will require architecting, developing, and managing a scalable data solution to support our engineering and business operations. The Data Engineer will be responsible for data-feed integration and management and structuring and API projects with other databases. He/she will look after reliability and scalability of our data pipeline processes to make sure discrepancies are investigated and resolved. Candidates will stand out with experience in:
- Managing and structuring environmental and utility/energy data with a basic understanding of physics principles such as heat transfer and thermodynamics.
- Building backend structure for consumer products with ranking features.
